Full-Stack Developer Resume Tips for US Remote Jobs

What American hiring managers look for — and what to leave out
Hiring manager reviewing a developer's resume during an interview
Your resume is usually the first — and sometimes only — chance to get a US hiring manager's attention. Recruiters often spend less than a minute on the first scan. These tips help international full-stack developers make that minute count. Two or three lines at the top that answer: who are you, how experienced are you and what do you build?
Full-stack developer with 5 years of experience building SaaS products with React, Next.js, Node.js and PostgreSQL. Experienced working remotely with distributed teams across time zones.
Add a short skills section grouped by category — frontend, backend, databases, cloud and tooling. Only list technologies you'd be comfortable being interviewed on. US companies care about outcomes. Turn each bullet into a result:
  • "Built a checkout flow in Next.js and Stripe that increased conversion by 18%"
  • "Reduced API response times from 900ms to 200ms with query optimization and caching"
  • "Led the migration of a legacy PHP app to Node.js and TypeScript for 30k monthly users"
Have you worked with clients in other countries, or on a distributed team? Say so explicitly. It reassures US employers that you know how to communicate asynchronously and handle time-zone differences. One page for up to about five years of experience; two pages maximum beyond that. Cut older or less relevant roles down to a single line. US resumes do not include a photo, date of birth, marital status, nationality or a full home address. City and country are enough. Including these details can actually hurt you, because many US companies are trained to avoid them. Add your LinkedIn, GitHub and portfolio links near the top. A clean GitHub profile with a couple of well-documented projects is one of the strongest signals you can send. Have someone proofread it, keep the formatting simple and save it as a PDF so it looks the same everywhere. Name the file clearly, for example Maria-Silva-Full-Stack-Developer.pdf. Once your resume is ready, apply for our remote Full-Stack Web Developer role. If you're a fit, our team will help you polish it further before we introduce you to US companies.
